OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- On Monday at the Global Family Elementary School in Oakland the Oakland A's mascot, Stomper, delivered some much needed science kits to one fifth grade classroom, courtesy of their teacher, Chevron, and the online charity DonorsChoose.org.

"Chevron is a company of engineers and scientists, 135-year-old California company, and our future depends on future engineers and scientists," Steve Green from Chevron said.

"The kids are really excited because they'll be doing a lot of hands-on activities with the solar cars, building bridges, we're going to go out and test the water at our creeks and at our bay," teacher Eva Beleche said.

Most of the students at Global Family are low-income and lack the most basic classroom supplies.
