OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The political scene in Oakland is really going to the dogs. That's right -- man's best friend is running for mayor.
A group of Occupy activists announced Thursday their plan for Einstein the dog's candidacy.
They say this is no joke. Their goal is to bring to light the problems in Oakland, including police brutality and wage disparity.
Einstein's campaign manager shared some of his platform, including a call for a maximum wage for Oakland residents.
"Einstein intends to be a voice in this campaign for what is right or needed, not for what is politically or legally feasible," his campaign manager said.
The activists behind the campaign say it's not just political tail wagging. They don't expect to win but hope it will bring more accountability to Oakland politics.
