One dead following Highway 35 crash in South Bay

La Honda, Calif. -- One person died Saturday after their vehicle rolled over and landed on its roof on state Highway 35 near La Honda.

At 11:57 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a solo vehicle accident on northbound Highway 35 just north of the Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve, in an area near the San Mateo and Santa Clara County borders, according to CHP officials.

Crews had to extricate a person from the vehicle, CHP officials said.

At 12:43 p.m., CHP officials issued a Sig-alert for Highway 35 in both directions. They have not provided an estimated time for when the highway would reopen.
