Road closures affecting commuters after gas explosion in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A gas explosion which turned into a three-alarm fire is causing issues for commuters in San Francisco.

Officials aren't saying for sure when the roads around the explosion will reopen. Currently, Geary Boulevard between Arguello Boulevard and Masonic Ave are closed.

Buses are being routed around the area.

According to officials, buses on the 38 Geary and 38 Rapid lines heading toward Downtown are now turning off Geary at Second Avenue, and then running along Turk Boulevard before turning back onto Geary at Masonic Avenue. The 38s and 39 rapids heading westbound turn off at Geary at Presidio Avenue, and then following California Street. They return to Geary at Arguello Boulevard.

The fire was reported at 1:08 p.m. and damaged five buildings including the Hong Kong Lounge II restaurant. PG&E crews capped the line got the fire under control by 4:18 p.m.

No injuries were reported, according to officials.
