Hazmat situation prompts evacuations at San Jose motel

One person is being treated and 29 people have been evacuated from an Extended Stay motel on San Ignacio Avenue in San Jose due to a hazmat situation Monday morning.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- One person is being treated and 29 people have been evacuated from an Extended Stay motel on San Ignacio Avenue in San Jose due to a hazmat situation Monday morning.

Officials said the substance has been identified as pepper spray.

San Jose police said the motel must have a specialist clean the area before anyone is allowed back inside the motel.
