ABC7 is partnering with the Red Cross to support life-saving disaster relief for those affected by wildfires across the West Coast, like our neighbors impacted by the Valley Fire and the Butte Fire. It's easy to Give Where You Live -- to make a $10 donation, just text the word "Red Cross" to 90999.[br /][br /]Evacuees can register on the [url HREF="https://safeandwell.communityos.org/cms/index.php" TARGET="" REL=""]American Red Cross "Safe and Well" website[/url] or call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to let their families know they're safe.[br /][br /][u][b]DONATIONS:[/b][/u][br /][br /]The [url HREF="http://www.redcross.org/" TARGET="" REL=""]American Red Cross[/url] says the only way to donate to the Western Wildfire Relief Fund is by check ("Western Wildfire" relief donations collected also go to Washington, Utah, Oregon and other western states). They ask that people designate Western Wildlife Relief Fund in the check memo field. The site is being updated live, and will remain updated as long as it takes.[br /][br /]For members of the California Teachers Association, or CTA, there is a fund set up to help if they have experienced significant losses due to disasters in California. Grants are available for homes and local schools, including temporary displacement and catastrophic damage grants. Also, Cal Fire is working the the "Forestry Crabfeed" to set up a fund to help all of these firefighters.
