The number of people killed by defective Honda automobile airbags is now at five.
The Japanese automaker says a driver in Malaysia died in July after being hit by shrapnel from an exploding airbag.
Honda also widened its recall by another 170,000 cars, bringing the total of affected cars to nearly 10 million worldwide.
The Takata Corp. made airbags that can explode, firing shrapnel at drivers and passengers.
The defective air bags have killed four people in the United States.
