SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- We've partnered with the team at Hoodline - the hyperlocal neighborhood website - to bring you what's new and happening this weekend in San Francisco!
Are you getting tired of the urban hustle and bustle? Are you searching for some zen at the end of a long week? It's time to get back to nature.
Free Garden Party at Bay Natives Nursery
In the India Basin neighborhood, you'll find a somewhat unexpected urban oasis. At Bay Natives Nursery, glossy, pampered free range chickens roam. Diminutive hummingbirds perch high in the treetops, scoping out vibrant pink and yellow blooms. And hungry goats happily accept your treats.
The nursery wants you to experience the potential stress-lowering qualities of this space; you're invited to a free garden party! Come and pet a chicken on your lap (pro tip: they love cashews and cranberries), listen to live music and enjoy free locally-grown roasted veggies. Across the street there will be pony rides for kids.
Bay Natives opened its doors in 2011. Before that, it was an online retailer carrying hundreds of native plant species. Owner Paul Furman is a landscape architect, and has a passion for drought-tolerant beauty. He loves sharing with customers the secret to attracting the most hummingbirds and butterflies to your garden.
He says even many longtime locals have no idea this lush plant nursery is right in San Francisco city limits.
"What people find most surprising is the chickens and goats," said Furman, with a laugh. "Each chicken has a name and they're very different. The whole 'pecking order' thing... there's lots of drama going on in the flock at all times."
The garden party is free and family-friendly. Come out this Saturday, November 12th from 12-5 p.m. at 10 Cargo Way.

Twenty roasters and coffee shops want you to taste their unique beans! There's live entertainment as you sip. Organizers call it an "immersive coffee experience."

San Francisco International Hip Hop Dance Fest
Also this weekend, see 11 hip hop dance companies from around the world. Organizers of the SF International Hip Hop DanceFest say this years performers hail from "London, Paris, Rotterdam and Ho Chi Minh." Notably, there are several local groups as well.
From the Bay Area, this year you'll see: SF-based "The Embodiment Project," and "The Tribe." From the East Bay, Oakland's company "TURFInc." and "On Demand" will be there, the latter being an all-female group.
The event works to showcase the art and jaw-dropping skill of hip-hop in a non-competitive environment.
The festival runs from Friday, November 11th at 8 p.m. to Sunday, November 13th at 10 p.m.
It's on Friday and Saturday night at the Palace of Fine Arts.
