SAN LEANDRO, Calif. -- A highway connector in San Leandro has been closed and will not reopen until at least 4 p.m., following a traffic accident earlier this morning.
At 12:45 a.m., CHP officials issued a Sig-Alert and closed the southbound Highway 880 to State Highway 238 connector, after an SUV struck a pole along the Washington Street off-ramp, according to CHP.
An exact time for the connector's reopening has not been given.
At 12:07 a.m., California Highway Patrol first received a report of accident along the off-ramp, CHP officials said.
The crash caused the pole to come down, creating sparks. The sparks then started a brush fire on the right hand shoulder of the off-ramp, according to CHP officials.
Two adults and two juveniles were inside the vehicle that struck the pole. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time, according to CHP.
