SF mayor honors Hawaiian teen recovering from brain surgery
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee is honoring a Hawaiian teenager who's recovering from a life-changing surgery before he returns home.
ABC7 News was at San Francisco's City Hall Friday night as Kaikea Ahuna received a certificate of honor and a Golden State Warriors hat from mayor lee.
The mayor also let Kaikea put on his Warriors championship ring.
The 14-year-old has spent the last month recuperating at the Palo Alto Ronald McDonald house from surgery at Stanford hospital to remove a brain tumor.

"The Bay Area and San Francisco, the people here have been really amazing, and we're really appreciative of all the aloha we've been receiving and we're so thankful to the connection between San Francisco and Hawaii," said the teen's mother, Kanoe Ahuna.
The SF Tech Democrats organized support for the family after ABC7 News reporter Vic Lee first reported the story back in late April.
That's when thieves broke into the family's car at Fisherman's Wharf and stole several items, including Kaikea's medical records.

People sent cards and the San Francisco Police Officers Association replaced a laptop and camera.
Kaikea and his family will return home to Hawaii on Saturday.
