A motorcyclist died from heat exposure Saturday while visiting Death Valley National Park as the temperature there reached 128 degrees this weekend.
A high temperature of 128 F (53.3 C) was recorded Saturday and Sunday at the park. The motorcyclist was a part of a group of six riding through the Badwater Basin area amid scorching weather, the park said in a statement.

The East Bay Regional Park District has extended the closures of its hills and inland parks until Sunday morning due to the high fire danger caused by this week's heat wave.
The district said Friday the move comes after the National Weather Service extended its Red Flag Warning through Saturday, meaning dry and windy conditions are expected, leading to extreme fire weather risks.
Swim facilities and shoreline parks will remain open. The district still urges people at the swim facilities and shoreline parks to follow safety rules and tips, including avoiding the hottest part of the day.

In the North Bay, a small Marin County town was getting lots of visitors during our sizzling heatwave. Stinson Beach was seeing huge crowds of those trying to escape extreme temperatures.
Rahsaan McGlashan-Powell packed up the kids and headed for the sand and sea breezes of Stinson Beach, leaving his very hot house behind in Oakland.
"My house was 97 during the day, at night and at two in the morning, it cooled down to 72 degrees," said McGlashan-Powell.
Beating the heat is this weekend's only mission. By noon time on Friday, it was 72 degrees in Stinson Beach.
Getting there wasn't so easy when everyone else had the same idea. By noontime, traffic coming into town was getting messy and may only get worse.
"It's going to be crowded, so if you don't leave early Saturday or Sunday, there's a good chance you're going to stuck for an hour," said John Hyland from Stinson Beach Fire Department.
Evacuation orders have been issued for residents of Lotus Street in Antioch due to a vegetation fire, Contra Costa fire officials said late Thursday night.
