Hooked Mako shark jumping out of water caught on camera

You've probably never seen shark footage quite like this.

Fly fishing Captain Mark Martin recorded video of his fishing group hooking a mako shark, and it subsequently breaching out of the water as it tried to free itself of the hook.

The shark jumped at least 10 feet out of the water, according to one member of the fishing group. Shortfin makos are the fastest species of shark, according to Shark Insider, and capable of leaping up to 20 feet out of the water.

"Words can't describe what it is like to see Mako sharks of this size come out of the water like they do," Mark Martin wrote on Facebook.

The shortfin mako is classified as Vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Martin's fishing company, The San Diego Salt Water Fly Fishing, says that they practice "strict catch and release" with all captured sharks and many other fish species, according to their website.
