US Attorney for the Northern District of California to step down

SACRAMENTO, Calif (KGO) -- ABC7 News has learned that Melinda Haag, the U.S. Attorney for Northern California, is stepping down.

Haag's resignation will take effect on September 1. She served as U.S. Attorney since 2010 -- that's when she was nominated by President Obama and confirmed by the Senate.

Haag's term expires in November of next year.
