SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is offering half-price adoptions on senior animals in August in honor of International Senior Citizens' Day.

The shelter is offering the half-off fees on all adoptable animals six years old and older in recognition of International Senior Citizens Day Aug. 21, according to the shelter's general manager Melanie Sobel.

The adoption package is similar to that of the other of the pets that are adopted from the shelter, and includes spaying/neutering, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchip ID, veterinary exam, a carrier case for cats and rabbits, and a collar, leash and license for dogs, Sobel said.
