PACIFICA, Calif. (KGO) -- Staffers at the Marine Mammal Center had another busy day.
Experts rescued a young elephant seal that beached itself near the Sharp Park Golf Course.
A group of hikers found the animal and called for help.
"We noticed a little barking sound and we looked over there and this beautiful animal was coming towards us," Robert Anthony, a hiker, said. "We felt really bonded, and you see those big brown eyes and you can tell she was in need and was malnourished. Didn't have a meal for quite some time."
The Mammal Center in Sausalito says they need more volunteers as the number of rescued animals are increasing week to week.
