Colossus roller-coaster collapses during fire
The top of the Colossus roller-coaster collapsed during a fire at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia Monday afternoon, Sept. 8, 2014.

VALENCIA, Calif. -- A fire erupted on the Colossus ride at Magic Mountain in Valencia. Firefighters are on scene.

Magic Mountain spokeswoman Sue Carpenter said in a statement that the fire was at "the top of the lift hill at Colossus." There were no injuries reported, and the fire has been contained, Carpenter said.

The park was not open on Monday. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

The Colossus was shut down on Aug. 17 to be replaced by a newer version of the ride. The Twisted Colossus was scheduled to open in spring 2015.

The classic wooden roller coaster was the world's tallest and fastest when it opened in 1978. It is 125 feet tall and reaches up to 62 mph.
