Oakland police investigating discovery of body

OAKLAND, Calif. -- A victim in a fatal shooting was found this morning on the outskirts of a nature park in the Oakland hills, police said.

Oakland police said officers responded at 6:27 a.m. to Joaquin Miller Road and Skyline Boulevard, near Joaquin Miller Park, and found a man in his early 20s suffering gunshot wounds.

The man, who was lying next to the roadway, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were offering no other details about the case as of this morning.
