Salinas police investigate deadly gang-related shooting

SALINAS, Calif. -- Police are investigating a Friday shooting death in Salinas.



Officers responded at 7:45 p.m. to the 1200 block of First Avenue on a report of a shooting and found Jesus Mendoza Ramirez, 33, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said.



Officers performed CPR on Ramirez, but he died at the scene.



Police said it appears Ramirez was washing his vehicle in his driveway when two unknown suspects dressed all in black confronted him.



The suspects were last seen running north on Towl Street, police said.



The homicide is being investigated as gang-related.
