U.S. politicians step up outrage over death of student held in North Korea

WASHINGTON (KGO) -- President Trump stepped up his outrage Tuesday over the death of 22-year-old Otto Warmbier.

"It's a total disgrace what happened to Otto. It should never be allowed to happen. Frankly, if he would have been brought home sooner, the result would have been a lot different," President Trump said.

Mr. Trump made the comments during an Oval Office meeting with the president of Ukraine.

Vice President Pence also weighed in, calling the news heartbreaking during a speech in Washington DC.

Arizona Senator John McCain took his outrage a step further when asked if he felt it was murder.

"Well what do you think, about someone who comes back totally incomprehensible with significant brain damage? What would you describe it as?"
