PACIFICA, Calif. (KGO) -- Another shark sighting in Pacifica has some beachgoers spooked.

For the second time in a month one has been spotted at Linda Mar Beach.

A group of surfers spotted the shark about 80 yards off shore at Pacifica's popular Linda Mar Beach. They're not sure what type of shark it was but describe it as 6 feet in length.

Eli Blond says he also saw a shark Thursday swimming near a group of whales.

"It worries me a little bit," Blond said. "There was a lot of whale action and I saw the shark breach directly and completely out of the water. I saw the dorsal fin and the tail."

This is the second reported sighting at Linda Mar Beach in one month. But Blond is certain there have been even more. He says surfers here alert each other when they see a shark, but usually don't call police.

Dave Mercerio plans to keep his kids out of the ocean.

"Stay away from the water. We're not as good as swimmers as the sharks are and I don't want to take any chances," Mercerio said.

People said they have noticed marine wildlife coming closer to shore in unusually large numbers lately. Whale watchers have been flocking to Pacifica.

Police are urging people who go in the water to be aware of their surroundings.
