Elderly driver hits pedestrian, San Francisco building with baby inside

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Police said an elderly driver struck a pedestrian, a building and then a pole in San Francisco's Richmond District Thursday afternoon.

The accident was reported at about 2:30 p.m. near the corner of 46th Avenue and Fulton Street.

Officials said there was a 1-year-old child playing on the other side of the wall in her living room with her mom just before the car crashed into the residential building. "I don't think she has any idea. She knows that she took a little ride and she looked at me with big eyes. It seemed like eight minutes, but it was only a couple of seconds and we just looked at each other, I grabbed her and ran," Marilla Pulito said.

Police said the elderly man lost control of his car when he hit a man in his 20s on a sidewalk. The man was taken to a nearby hospital and is supposed to be OK.

The elderly man's wife was also inside the car and both taken to the hospital.

At this time, police said they don't believe alcohol and drugs were involved.
