Illinois police called to rescue raccoon trapped in sewer grate

ZION, Ill. (KGO) -- A raccoon in Zion, Illinois owes city officials big time after he got himself stuck in a sewer grate on Thursday.

The City of Zion Police Department got a call about the furry resident and went to see what was happening.

In photos posted to their Facebook page, an officer can be seen trying to help the little guy out of the grate. They say he must have been eating too well and was unable to free himself.

Police were unable to remove him and had to call the Zion Public Works Department.

The critter was eventually freed and police say he was no worse for wear.
