SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A 35-foot-tall polar bear now stands guard at the front of San Francisco's Ferry Building.

The sculpture is made from car hoods salvaged from junkyards.
The New Mexico artist behind the piece says the sculpture is meant to shine light on the disappearing Arctic, threatening the bears' extinction.
