35-foot polar bear statue stands guard at San Francisco's Ferry Building
He's just here to remind everyone about the disappearing Arctic, threatening the bears' extinction.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A 35-foot-tall polar bear now stands guard at the front of San Francisco's Ferry Building.

It's for this week's Global Climate Action Summit.



The sculpture is made from car hoods salvaged from junkyards.



The New Mexico artist behind the piece says the sculpture is meant to shine light on the disappearing Arctic, threatening the bears' extinction.
