Richmond police arrested Lawyer Dushan McBride in Sacramento Wednesday afternoon.

McBride maintains his innocence, but police have video of the deadly shooting -- a domestic violence incident from Sunday, plus others. There are also many witnesses to the daytime shooting.

"I ain't do nothing," McBride said as police took him to jail. "They've got the wrong man."

Richmond police investigators say 43-year-old McBride of San Pablo is the man who shot and killed his estranged girlfriend Rashanda Franklin Tuesday morning.

"Killing another human being is bad enough, but then you elevate that with doing it in front of the woman's children," said Lt. Felix Tan of the Richmond police.

The 29-year-old mother was taking two of her three young children to school. She knew McBride was following her and tried to escape.

"I call the police, and we take the babies out -- the neighbors," said Richmond resident Jorge Legrand.

Legrand's surveillance camera captured the attack. A Mercedes is seen trapping Franklin's SUV at 29th street and Rheem Avenue.

"She was totally trapped. There were cars behind her. She couldn't go anywhere," said Tan. "She was trapped in her car. She had her children with her so she's not going to leave her children."

Community outrage resulted in a flurry of tips pointing to police in Sacramento. They arrested McBride Wednesday afternoon with the suspect vehicle.

"I am so happy they catch him," said Legrand.

Two days before the killing, officers responded to a domestic violence call involving McBride and Franklin.

Police say that incident and others are now part of the murder investigation.
