SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Christmas trees can burn fast and furious. That's the message San Francisco firefighters pushed to the public on Wednesday with their version of a tree lighting demonstration.
Fire consumed the tree in less than 30 seconds.
Crews say make sure you keep live trees well hydrated and away from heat sources. They also advise you check that extension cords are not frayed or exposed.
Then, after the holidays, place Christmas trees outside on designated trash days so they get mulched and recycled.
