SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Starting on Sunday, senior citizens and people with disabilities can ride Muni for free.

In January, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Board unanimously agreed on funding for the free rides.

The program is available on Clipper card only.

Officials say over the past month alone, they've processed more than 38,000 applications for the free Muni program expansion.

Last year, the MTA approved a two-year, free ride program for low income young people.
