San Jose family displaced by fire gets car broken into near hotel
SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- In the South Bay, a family who lost their home in an early morning fire got their car broken into less than 72 hours later.
Frankie Gomez said her husband Daniel and two daughters were staying at the Marriott in downtown San Jose thanks to a Red Cross voucher.

When they tried parking in the garage the security guard said they would have to pay. Rather than spend the money to park during their stay they decided it would be ok to park in the Convention Center nearby.
Saturday morning they found their car's passenger door window had been smashed.
"Everything was in the back seat kind of in disarray. We were trying to figure out what was taken," Gomez said. She said no other car looked like they had gotten broken into.
Sentimental belongings and cash donations from her daughter's soccer coach amounting to $200 was taken.
"Some of the things are irreplaceable. I mean there's no amount of money you can put on some of things that are sentimental to and it's completely gone," Gomez said.
On Saturday night Frankie's family got together at her sister-in-law Erica De La Torre's apartment. Together they're trying to figure out what the future holds for the family of six now displaced from the fire.
With just a few days left before Christmas, Frankie feels overwhelmed. "It's joyful, it's nice but it's also heartbreaking at the same time," Gomez said.
The family is receiving some support from the Red Cross.
They also released a GoFundMe page asking for support and children's clothes donations.
