4 Powerball tickets sold in Bay Area match 5 of 6 numbers
So close yet so far away. Four Powerball tickets worth $638,000 each were sold in Cloverdale, Santa Rosa, Vacaville and Santa Cruz.

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KGO) -- Four tickets sold in the Bay Area matched five of the numbers, minus the Powerball. They were sold in Cloverdale, Santa Rosa, Vacaville and Santa Cruz and are worth $638,000.



In Santa Cruz, the ticket was sold at the Extra Mile convenience store at the Chevron on Ocean Street at Soquel Avenue. The clerks said it was very busy Wednesday. About $6,000 worth of Powerball tickets was sold in the store yesterday.

Although the retailer, in this case Chevron. Won't receive a payout for selling the $638,000 winning power ball ticket. Lottery officials say it pays off with publicity. People around town now know the Extra Mile convenience store is lucky.



In all, 12 people in California matched five of the six numbers; the rest are from Southern California.



Three winning tickets were sold for the $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot. Tickets sold in Southern California, Florida and Tennessee had all six numbers -- 4, 8, 19, 27, 34 and the Powerball number of 10.

There were 141 tickets that matched four numbers and the Powerball for a $13,000 prize and more than two million tickets were sold matching only the Powerball, that's a $4 win.



Here's the new jackpot for Powerball is now all the way back down to $40 million.
