Stanford's Andrej Stojakovic entering transfer portal

Stanford freshman Andrej Stojakovic, the son of former NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic, entered the men's basketball transfer portal Tuesday.

Stojakovic was a top-25 recruit coming out of high school in the 2023 class, earning McDonald's All-American honors. He was ranked No. 22 in the ESPN 100, skyrocketing from outside the top 100 to borderline five-star status after a huge spring and summer showing before his senior year.

During his lone season in Palo Alto, Stojakovic averaged 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds, shooting just under 33% from 3-point range. He started his career strong, with three double-digit scoring efforts in his first four games, but struggled with inconsistency the rest of the way. Stojakovic scored 16 points against Arizona and had 20 points in February against USC.

Fellow freshman and top-50 recruit Kanaan Carlyle also entered the transfer portal on Tuesday. Carlyle averaged 11.5 points this season for the Cardinal.

Expect Stojakovic to be one of the most sought-after players in the portal. When he committed to Stanford in November 2022, he chose the Cardinal over Texas, UCLA and Oregon.

His father, Peja, averaged 17 points across 804 NBA games. He was a three-time All-Star and won an NBA championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.

Stanford is currently without a head coach since firing Jerod Haase shortly after the Cardinal's Pac-12 tournament loss to Washington State last week.
