SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- BART's Transbay service will shut down from midnight Friday until Tuesday morning. BART is closing the West Oakland station and will stop service in the Transbay Tube.
BART will run buses between the 19th Street station in Oakland and the Transbay Terminal in San Francisco.
There will be options and other ways to get around, especially for the 50,000 people who will be headed to AT&T Park for a concert this weekend. The key will be to plan ahead and pack your patience.
BART spokesperson Alicia Trost has a message for the weekend, "people should stay home if they can and definitely don't bring your car."
But that's not possible for many with tens of thousands of people heading to AT&T Park to hear legendary musician Billy Joel. Getting around is expected to be tricky with several construction projects underway.

"We hope it won't be and the city contains it," said Jennifer Loya of San Francisco.
BART will be shutting down service for the second time this summer from Oakland to San Francisco. Traffic last time came to halt on the Bay Bridge as drivers tried to make their way into the city.
BART says the closure is critical for its aging system. Crews will be laying down new tracks.
"Tuesday morning, your ride should be smoother, quieter and definitely safer," Trost said.

Along the same lines, Muni is closing 4th and King streets, a major intersection for those coming in from the South Bay and Peninsula. It's part of a two-phase project to install tracks and upgrade the signal lights. Several Muni lines will be affected, but operations will keep going.
For those who won't be able to take BART, there's a free lifeline bus service that will pick up passengers at 19th Street in Oakland and take them to the temporary Transbay Terminal in San Francisco.
