NEW YORK (KGO) -- Uber is apologizing for billing a woman $16,000 dollars for a ride explaining that it was an accident.
Jaime Hessel wasn't happy with the service she received from an Uber driver last month in New York City, so she filed a complaint.
Uber promised a credit, but it never came, so she contacted them again. That's when Hessel received an email from Uber, saying she's been charged $16,000 for the ride. She contacted Uber again.
"All of a sudden uber calls me, like an hour and a half later trying to apologize and explain the situation and I asked them you know, 'How can I get charged $16,000'? And they're just like, 'Oh, you know it was a clerical error, someone put a decimal point in the wrong place,'" Hessel said.
Uber apologized and gave Hessel a full refund. The company says Hessel was never charged the $16,000 and corrected the error the same day.
