Owner of Hoberg's Resort tours what's left of historic getaway

COBB, Calif. (KGO) -- Firefighters in Lake County were happy to see Wednesday's rain, but new destruction created by the [url HREF="http://abc7ne.ws/1iiLHUt" TARGET="" REL=""]Valley Fire[/url] is just being discovered.[br /][br /]Dan Nelson is seeing up close the landmark getaway, Hoberg's Resort and Spa, that stood on Cobb Mountain for more than a century. It's now reduced to ashes after the Valley Fire moved through.[br /][br /]"The history of this place, been here since 1885, it was a historical landmark that can never be replaced," said Hoberg's Resort owner Dan Nelson. "It's so hard to look and see all the devastation and fire damage."[br /][br /][b][url HREF="http://abc7news.com/news/donations-how-to-help-valley-fire-victims/982772/" TARGET="" REL=""]DONATIONS: How to help victims of the Valley Fire where you live[/url][/b][br /][br /]A chimney is all that's left of the grand ballroom where big bands played in the 30s and 40s. Grace Bowman showed off the new donated blanket she'll give to her granddaughter.
