Today, members of the military and their families will be honored for their service at Veterans Day events in the Bay Area.

8 a.m. A group of Boy Scouts will place flags donated by the Lions Club on veterans' graves at Sunset View Cemetery, at 101 Colusa Ave, El Cerrito

9:45 a.m. Landing of a Vietnam H2 Huey Helicopter to kick off Las Positas College's Veterans Day events, which include military veteran speakers. Mertes Center for the Arts, Las Positas College, 3000 Campus Hill

Drive, Livermore.

10 a.m. Marin County's annual Veterans Day ceremony. Marin Veterans Memorial Auditorium, 10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael

10 a.m. Free day for veterans at the San Francisco Zoo. 1 Zoo Road, San Francisco

10:15 a.m. San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo and Santa Clara County Supervisor Dave Cortese will launch a countywide campaign to end veteranhomelessness by 2017. Followed at 11 a.m. by a Veterans Day commemoration and a parade at noon. Plaza De Cesar Chavez Park, Park and Market Streets, San Jose.

10:30 a.m. Veterans Day observance at the Golden Gate National Cemetery. Center of the Cemetery on Nimitz Drive, within the cemetery, 1300 Sneath Lane, San Bruno.

11 a.m. The city of Mountain View will unveil a new Veterans

11 a.m. Cupertino Veterans Day ceremony. Memorial Park, Mary Avenue and Stevens Creek Boulevard, Cupertino.

11 a.m. Pinole Historical Society's Veterans Day event. Flag-retirement ceremony, music and singing. Noon luncheon for veterans at the Pinole Senior Center. Fernandez Park, 595 Tennent Ave., Pinole

11 a.m. Celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Berkeley Vietnam War Memorial. Speakers and performers include former mayor Shirley Dean and musician country Joe McDonald. Veterans Memorial Building, 1931 Center St., Berkeley

11:30 a.m. The city of Albany will host a new flagpole. Ddication ceremony in Memorial Park in Albany. Mayor Peter Maass is scheduled to join a group of veterans to mark the replacement of a flagpole that is 80 years old. Memorial Park, 1325 Portland Ave., Albany

1 p.m. Petaluma Veterans Day parade and flyover. Parade begins and ends at Walnut Park, Fourth and D Sstreets, Petaluma.
