SQUAW VALLEY, Calif. (KGO) -- This series of storms means lots of snow in the Sierra.

Ski resorts like Squaw Valley are reporting nearly three feet of new snow.

As a result, Kirkwood opened Saturday and others that opened earlier are running more lifts and trails.

Ski resorts say these storms are putting them ahead of last year with an increase in visitors.

More snow is in the forecast through next week.
