Officers briefly pursued them but stopped when an Oakland police helicopter took over the chase. As police were responding to the scene, one of the suspect cars collided with a fully-marked Oakland police patrol vehicle.

Two officers, one of the suspects and the person who was carjacked were hospitalized for injuries that were not life-threatening. Police did not say whether all the injuries were due to the collision.

Multiple suspects were taken into custody, police said, but an exact number was not provided. A firearm was recovered at the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the OPD Robbery Section at (510) 238-3482.
