CAL FIRE asks public to use caution with campfires, power tools

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) -- CAL FIRE says the Bully Fire burning in Shasta County is now 51-percent contained.

The flames have burned more than 11,000 acres and 18 people have been injured in the fire.

The fire has also destroyed 18 buildings.

Investigators believe the fire was started by a marijuana grower's truck. They are are urging folks to be careful when they're outside, especially with campfires and power tools, because of the high fire risk.

Lynne Tomachoff of CAL FIRE says,"We're well ahead of schedule with what we call our fuels drying out. So all the grasses and the trees are struggling in these dry conditions. Statewide with the drought conditions, everything is ripe to burn."
