SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Work got underway Monday to remove a huge public art sculpture from the Embarcadero BART station in San Francisco.
Crews put up scaffolding to start dismantling the 50-foot rope sculpture called "Legs."
When it was installed in the mid-1970s, it was bright orange and white.
However, grime from the BART trains made it so dirty that some now refer to it as a "hanging dish towel."
The artwork will be dismantled piece-by-piece and given back to the original artist.
