Residents to rally over Cow Palace
DALY CITY State Sen. Leland Yee introduced legislation Friday allowing the
city to purchase the indoor arena. Senate Bill 1527 will allow the state
director of general services to sell the Cow Palace, at fair market value, to
Daly City. The arena is located on 68 acres of property within the city
limits, near the border of San Francisco.
Community members will meet with Yee to build support for the
bill, as well as for the idea of a supermarket built on the location,
according to the association. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the
Bayshore Community Center.
Built in 1941, the structure has not been adequately maintained,
and is not compliant with requirements for seismic safety as well as for the
Americans with Disabilities Act, according to Yee's office. It has also been
cause for community concern in the past years with illegal gun and drug sales
being conducted on the premises.
