Missing 10-year-old boy found safe

WALNUT CREEK, CA

Jordon McGuinness had apparently climbed out his bedroom window Sunday night because he was afraid he would get in trouble for something Anderson characterized as "very minor."

He was reported missing from his bedroom in the 100 block of Russell Drive in a small, unincorporated pocket of the county between Walnut Creek and the Shell Ridge open space area at 11:30 p.m.

The Contra Costa County Sheriff's office's search and rescue team was called out, along with a helicopter to search from the air and a bloodhound to try and track the boy's path, Anderson said.

The sheriff's office also notified neighboring law enforcement agencies and used its emergency telephone notification system to call everyone within a half-mile radius of the boy's home, Anderson said.

The boy turned up at a relative's house at about 8:30 a.m. today, Anderson said.

"He's home safe and sound and all the issues have been resolved," Anderson said.

It was not immediately clear where the boy spent the night.
