Firefighters extinguish fire in SF

San Francisco firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze this morning that burned the seventh floor of an apartment complex in the area of Park Merced, a fire dispatcher said.

The fire was reported just after 7 a.m. in the 13-story Parkmerced apartment tower at 55 Chumasero Drive.

By 7:24 a.m., the fire was contained and it was brought under control at about 7:40 a.m., according to the dispatcher.

Two people were transported to the hospital, but no details of their injuries were immediately available.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
