Burning body discovered in Berkeley

Commuters were horrified to discover that a fire they stopped to report, turned out to be a burning body. Police say the body was found near a frontage road, in the Eastshore State Park near University Avenue.

Whoever did this was not too concerned about hiding this body; the body was found close to I-80 at about 6:30 on Tuesday morning. Because this is a popular park, a lot of runners and walkers have been trying to dodge this crime scene.

Police don't know who this victim is, but witnesses say he was tied up, and police say there was a gas can next to the body. This was a very large fire and police say this was tough way for some people to start their work day.

"I never thought that I would come across something like this - and to find out that there was a body - I mean - I've always seen it on the news, but seeing it like this - I didn't know what to think. I'm just speechless right now," said Kevin Pegram, witness.

Police are still trying to figure out who this man is. They have contacted local police offices to see if any missing person reports have been filed. Crime technicians have been investigating the area and are hoping to reveal more details soon.
