Police bust marijuana grow operation

FAIRFIELD, CA

Justin Cardwell was arrested after arriving officers determined he had allegedly tried to strangle his girlfriend.

During the investigation into the incident, officers discovered the marijuana in Cardwell's garage, police said.

The Fairfield Police Department's Narcotic Investigation Unit was called out and, after obtaining a search warrant for the home, they seized 16 marijuana plants and evidence indicative of marijuana sales.

The garden was being grown inside a room built solely for the purpose of growing marijuana, and contained sophisticated lighting, irrigation, cooling and ventilation systems, according to police.

Cardwell was booked into the Solano County Jail on charges of felony assault, domestic violence, cultivation of marijuana, and possession for sales of marijuana, police said.

Anyone with information about suspected drug sales are encouraged to contact Fairfield's Narcotic Investigation Unit at (707) 428-7344 or Solano County Crime Stoppers at (707) 644-STOP.
