Judge's son sentenced for threating mother

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA

Robert Holm, 37, pleaded no contest in Alameda County Superior Court in January to one count of felony threats for saying he would kill his mother for allegedly not supporting Holm as he endured a bitter divorce, San Mateo County Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

The threats were made Aug. 1 via e-mail. In the e-mail, Holm threatened to kill his mother for not showing him any support while he was going through his divorce, Wagstaffe said.

Though he was charged in San Mateo County, the pre-trial proceedings took place in Alameda County since Holm is the son of San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Carl Holm.

Had the matter gone to trial, the case would have returned to San Mateo County, Wagstaffe said.

Holm was released from custody this afternoon. He received credit for time served since he remained in custody in lieu of $150,000 after his arrest, according to Wagstaffe.
