Marijuana arrests in Vallejo and Benicia

Authorities said the two residences were live plants were found are among 10 indoor /*marijuana*/ growing operations discovered in the county since January.

Marijuana plants were found growing in two of the residences. The value of the marijuana plants and processed pot is valued at more than $1.5 million, sheriff's Officer Paula Toynbee said.

Narcotics officers and Benicia police searched a residence in the 300 block of Durham Court in Benicia around 7 p.m. Thursday. They found 563 marijuana plants in an indoor growing operation with water, lighting and a temperature control system. The value of the marijuana is estimated at $1,407,500, Toynbee said.

The owner of the residence, Kenneth Allen Sevier and 38-year-old River Lark Denning were arrested at the residence, Toynbee said.

Narcotics officers and police then searched a residence in the 500 block of East L Street in Benicia around 2 a.m. today. Police found three ounces of marijuana worth $1,350, packaging materials, a digital scale and $1,440 cash, Toynbee said. Police arrested 38-year-old Paul Thomas Brown at the residence.

At around 2:40 a.m. today, police searched a residence in the 1000 block of West K Street in Benicia that is also believed to be Sevier's residence. Police found five pounds of processed marijuana worth $25,000, one-half ounce of methamphetamine worth $650, $16,400 cash packaging materials and a digital scale, Toynbee said.

The last search was around 2 a.m. in a residence believed to be owned by Denning in the 500 block of Goheen Circle in Vallejo, Toynbee said. Police found 57 marijuana plants worth $142,500 and two and a half ounces of methamphetamine worth $3,250, Toynbee said.

Brown, Denning and Sevier were booked under $1 million bail in the Solano County jail on cultivation and possession for sale of drugs and conspiracy charges, Toynbee said.
