Douglass Mitchell, 41, surrendered shortly before 7 a.m. at an apartment triplex at 309 Dunster Drive after negotiators spent the night talking on the phone with him and using a distraction device designed to make a loud sound and bright flash to keep him awake, Campbell police Officer David Dehaan said.
Mitchell, who reportedly told a neighbor, "Jesus was going to kill her," was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of brandishing a .22-caliber gun and making criminal threats.
No one was injured during the standoff and residents were allowed go back to their apartments immediately afterward, Dehaan said.
