New study defines 'moderate' exercise

However, a new study is shedding light on what exactly "moderate" exercise means.

Researchers from San Diego State University found that the average person needs to walk at a brisk pace, about 100 steps per minute, to raise the heart rate and alter metabolism enough to achieve health benefits.

They say those benefits can include reduced stress, reduced risk of heart disease and cancer, and even a longer lifespan.
