Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason said tonight there have been at least two reports of a caller attempting to solicit money to benefit families of the fallen officers.

"It's a scam," Thomason said, adding that the Oakland Police Department and Oakland Police Officer's Association do not make phone calls to solicit money.

Anyone who receives such a phone call is ask to call Oakland police at (510) 777-3333.
