Charred meat may increase cancer risk

Cooking meat this way creates a chemical reaction that could raise people's risk of cancer.

A University of Minnesota study followed 62,000 people for nine years. It found that people who ate the highest amount of charred meats had a 70 percent greater chance of pancreatic cancer than those who ate the least.
