Man shot during attempted robbery

A man was hospitalized late Wednesday in serious condition after being shot several times during a robbery attempt in San Francisco's Bayview District, according to police.

The incident was reported at about 10:10 p.m. in the 1500 block of Jennings St.

According to a preliminary police report, a 35-year-old man was sitting inside his parked car when another vehicle pulled up beside him.

Someone got out of the passenger side of the suspect vehicle and tried to rob the victim, then kicked his window and shot him multiple times, according to police.

The suspect then got back into his vehicle, being driven by another man, and the two reportedly drove off headed east on Quesada Avenue, according to the preliminary report.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that were considered life-threatening.

Police did not have an update on his condition this morning.
