900-year-old tree falls due to high winds

A 900-year-old tree, that some Placer County residents used to predict the weather, fell victim to high winds over the weekend.

The ancient oak sat in front of a house in Michigan bluffs.

The home's owner used its acorn production to determine what winter had in store.

If less-than-normal snow and rain was coming, he says the tree didn't produce acorns most years.

The tree debris will be staying where it fell.

The owner wants it to remain a town artifact.
